The City of Tomar
Tomar is one of Portugal's historical jewels as it was constructed under the orders of Gualdim de Pais, the fourth grand master of the Knights Templar in the late 12th century.
Tomar is one of the most important sites of Portuguese architectural heritage and a thriving student town housing the Polytechnic University. Every four years Tomar hosts the Festa de Tabuleiros – a traditional procession with women wearing intricate headgear sometimes up to 2 feet high on their heads. The tabuleiro is made of 30 stacked pieces of bread, either in 6 rows of 5 or 5 rows of 6, decorated with flowers.

Almourol Castle
Often referred to as the most “magical” and beautiful castle in Portugal, it owes part of its magic to its location perched on top of an islet in the middle of the Tagus River.

Serras de Aire e Candeeiros Nature Park
Marked with grottoes which had been created by water over millennia, the park which s pans over 35,000 hectares is home to several sites of archeological importance. Found there are the world’s largest and most important collection of sauropod dinosaur footprints from the mid Jurassic period (175 million years old) and some of the largest and clearest footprints known to man, that attain up to 95 cm in length and 70 cm in width, which give an idea of the dimension of the largest of beings that have ever inhabited the planet.
