Bianca and Raoul are met with a great community in Bansko

The couple, who moved to Bansko only two weeks ago with their son Finn, are loving the natural beauty and the openness of the locals in their new hometown.

There's more to life than just only one place where you grew up.

My name is Raoul.. I'm Bianca. And this is Finn. I'm originally from the Netherlands.. and I'm Australian. And Finn already has two passports - a Dutch one and an Australian.

Bianca: Before we had Finn, we traveled a lot. We just didn't know if the travel lifestyle would still work for us.

Raoul: We were actually traveling in Nepal quite a while ago, I think about two years ago. And then we met someone who was very excited about Bansko and told us about the amazing community here. And then I actually kind of forgot about it. But then when we were looking for a new place to go to with with Finn, I remembered it again. And we decided to come here.

Raoul: What's important to us as a family, we know that health is really important to us. We've decided to raise our child in a healthy environment with a lot of nature and Bansko is completely okay to do that for a while.

Bianca: We haven't been here super long yet, but we're already meeting amazing people.

Raoul: Yeah, that really stands out to me to like, we've only been in for two weeks. But we've met so many interesting people traveled everywhere and got the most amazing stories. And they are extremely welcoming too, they invite us to barbecues and activities.

Bianca: In our group of friends back home where the weird ones and here we feel like we're not even that strange, like we talk about where we might want to go next. And people are like, Well, yeah, cool. That's, of course, you would go there. I honestly didn't know much about Bulgaria before we came here. But I have been amazed at how friendly the Bulgarian locals have been here. And especially with Finn, like everyone just stops us in the forest and wants to know about him. And yeah, like that's been so lovely.

Raoul: And he seems to really be enjoying it, like his face like, like soft when other kids saw coming towards him and play together with him. So yeah, and

Bianca: Even yesterday, he was just interacting with a local girl. And yeah, they have no idea that they even speak a different language, but they're so sweet. He's already both Dutch and Australian. And I want him to be truly global in how he thinks and think of opportunities wherever he wants to go and not just in the city that he grew up in.

Raoul: Yeah, just see as many different world views as possible.

Bianca: We have a phrase, in our family, "never try - never know. And we really feel like nothing is permanent. So we if it doesn't work, we can just go back and do what we were doing before.

Raoul: Nothing to add. That's it. That's exactly yeah.
